Suspect In DUI Tragedy Arrested Agustin L. DeLaRiva, 29 of Santa Rosa Prior DUI Conviction

Redwood City Family Remains Hospitalized in Critical Condition.

Agustin DeLaRiva 29 of Santa Rosa, who has a history of alcohol abuse, including a previous DUI conviction, plowed into a Redwood City family on Highway 101 near Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park on Saturday afternoon.


CHP made contact with DeLaRiva, who had driven away from the scene, near the Santa Rosa Avenue off-ramp. CHP determined DelaRiva to be under the influence and promptly placed him under arrest.


The Palencia-Valesquez family suffered catastrophic injuries.


The mother was airlifted to Stanford Trauma Center, where her condition remains unchanged. Her three children remain hospitalized in an ICU Unit in Sonoma County. In total, six people were injured in this three-car accident.


DeLaRiva is suspected of driving a stolen vehicle, without a license, or insurance.

The Sonoma County District Attorney has charged DeLaRiva with the following:

  • 4 Counts - PC 12022.7 (a) Enhancement

  • 2 Counts - VC 23558 Enhancement

  • 1 Count - VC 23153 (a) Felony

  • 1 Count - HS 11357( b) (2) Misd

  • 1 Count - VC 23560 Enhancement

  • 1 Count - VC 20001 (a) Felony

  • 1 Count - VC 10851 (a) Felony

  • 1 Count - VC 23247 (e) Misd

  • 1 Count - VC 14601.2 (a) Misd

While the obstacles continue to mount for the Palencia-Valesquez family, so has the love and support from their Redwood City Community.


A fund has been established to help the family through this unimaginable tragedy.




Agustin "Augie" Lemar DeLaRiva remains in custody in Sonoma County on 350K Bail

DeLaRiva's next court date is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 am.
